Fort Worth, Texas – September 25, 2023 – West Coast Bible College & Seminary (WCBCS), a renowned institution dedicated to academic excellence and spiritual growth, is pleased to announce the appointment of Vanessa Norwood Patterson to the Honorary Doctorate Degree Acceptance Program Committee. This committee plays a pivotal role in recognizing outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to public service, education, community empowerment and business.
Vanessa Patterson brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. She is a retired educator from the Clarke County Schools System. For 25 years she taught as a Middle School Educator at Jackson Middle School in Jackson, Alabama. In addition to her remarkable career in education, Vanessa worked for 12 years in retail management with Montgomery Ward, Chicago, Ill, and Target in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and as an Office and Sales Manager at Insight News in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Vanessa hosted and was co-host of two radio broadcast programs: Food for Thought and Nourishment for Soul at WJDB 95.5 FM in Thomasville, Alabama. Additionally, Voices of the African American Community & Tip of the Week on KMOJ 89.9 FM in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Through these programs, she fulfilled a dream to inspire and encourage people to love, honor and respect each other and keep the Lord centered in their lives. Vanessa is co-author of two books with her friends Drs. Phillip and Janice Porter, Journeys To I Do and The Power In A Vision Driven Family. In 2018 her dream became a reality; Vanessa wrote and published The Butterfly’s Journey- From the Valley to the Mountain Top. All three books are available on Amazon.com.

She is an active member of Kiel Memorial Temple COGIC. Vanessa is a charter member and officer of the Southwest Alabama Regional Alumni Chapter of Alabama A&M University Alumni Association. She is a former board member of the A. L. Martin Historical Museum. Vanessa is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Vanessa is a board member of the Thomasville Library Foundation. Vanessa is an AAMU Bulldogs Connect Ambassador.
Vanessa embarked upon her scholastic aspirations at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications and Business Management.
