Demitri McGee Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree From West Coast Bible College & Seminary

Fort Worth, Texas – Monday, January 20, 2025 – We are thrilled to announce that Demitri McGee, a dynamic certified housing counselor and financial coach/trainer, will be honored with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters from West Coast Bible College & Seminary (WCBCS). This prestigious accolade recognizes Demitri’s life-changing impact on hundreds of families. The graduation ceremonial event will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, and will accommodate both in-person and online attendees.

Dr. Phillip S. Porter, President of WCBCS, expressed his excitement, stating, “Demitri McGee is truly a servant leader and youth community educator with a passion and desire to educate and provide future generations of leaders with the tools and resources they need to succeed in life. It is our privilege to welcome him into the esteemed West Coast family.”

Demitri McGee is HUD certified housing counselor, financial coach/trainer, scholar, and youth community leader. As a Masters’ graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Family Social Sciences department, his research agenda focuses on creating and evaluating effective ways of implementing financial capability programs in underserved and underrepresented communities. He has published multiple articles and has used the findings to enhance his practitioner work with local nonprofit Financial Opportunity Center, Build Wealth MN Inc.

Demitri has worked with Build Wealth as a Youth Director and a housing counselor/ financial coach over the last 8 years, assisting hundreds of families and youth with financial budgeting, saving, credit building and homebuyer preparation. He has authored and coordinated Build Wealth MN’s Youth Stabilization Program and the rental readiness program, Rent Smart-Wise & Ready.

Demitri is the CEO To M33CH His Own Productions, an LLC with a mission to spark community engagement by hosting local art shows for youth. He is also a founder and Co-Director of Support Local Artists. Support Local Artists is a Nonprofit that provides a platform to creatives using art to connect youth and help them reach their full artist potential. Both organizations are designed to elicit a safe space that allows an outlet for freedom of expression, social networking, and community building.

As a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Demitri chairs the local Guide Right program and started the very first Kappa League program in the State of Minnesota. Guide Right is a national youth leadership and mentorship program that is recognized as one of the longest standing youth programs for BIPOC people in the United States.

Demitri McGee believes all facets work together in helping underserved communities break down barriers by promoting connectedness, creative control, financial freedom, and entrepreneurship.
