Janice Porter

Janice M. Williams-Porter, EdD is the Chancellor at West Coast Bible College & Seminary (WCBCS) and President, Co-Founder of Global Family Success Institute (GFSI) in Texas.

Dr. Janice Porter grew up and attended school in Pike County, Mississippi. She attended an excellent HBCU, Jackson State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Master’s in Science. Janice continued her education by earning a Specialist Degree in Education Administration from St. Mary’s University in Minnesota. She achieved her lifelong educational dream when she earned her Doctor of Education in K-12 Leadership from Bethel University in Minnesota. Dr. Porter was honored to dedicate her doctorate degree to her parents W. Lethell Williams & Elvalene Magee-Williams.

Dr. Porter worked in the field of Education for over thirty years serving in numerous roles; as a principal, director, science specialist and teacher in both traditional and non-traditional K-12 schools. She served as the first African American high school principal in Burnsville, Minnesota. Dr. Porter is a co-founder of the national blue-ribbon K-6 Charter School “Friendship Academy of the Arts” in Minnesota.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 2014 birthday and legacy celebration, Jackson, MS highlighted progress achieved by individual African Americans over the fifty-year span of the Civil Rights Acts (1964-2014). Dr. Porter was the first African American Principal in Burnsville, MN and she hails from the great state of Mississippi. She was grateful for the privilege and opportunity to serve as the banquet keynote speaker and Grand Marshall of Dr. MLK, Jr. Parade. Dr. Porter described this event as being, “a transformative mile marker event in her life”.  It is an experience she will pass on to future generations as priceless. Janice retired in 2018 from serving as a High School Principal in Minnesota, however she continues to empower an advocate for families nationwide.

Her passions are reading, spending time with her family, teaching, traveling and biblical studies.  She served in her church as Director of the Christian Education Ministry, a Deaconess, a Sunday School teacher, and an Executive Board member.

Dr. Porter is married to her best friend, the love of her life, entrepreneur, and author Dr. Phillip S. Porter. This year they will celebrate forty years of marriage.  They are blessed to have four children, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
